Darn, now I feel the brunt of why the average Malaysian hate and disgusted by the state of the Malaysian Broadband as what I wrote in the article in Helium last few weeks and now it’s really getting on my darn nerves. It’s really depressing that even getting a decent connection to Google or even Facebook is a drag here for me, far worse than being on dial up. Believe you me, it’s really a nag and if that is not bad enough, the cheapest Wireless broadband would be about RM8 a day or as cheap as RM20 a week (works to RM80+ a month) and that is far more expensive than STREAMYX which is about RM66 a month for 384kbps for what is people on CELCOM is paying. The Postpaid RM98 a month will be 7.2M link but technically, one would be lucky to get even a decent 1M link over the line of sight.
Being Malaysians who live in the metropolitan areas are all in either condominiums, flats or even landed properties, the wireless signals deteriorate and thus we will be lucky to get a single bar on the signal strength. Basically, the modem will need to send out more power and radiation to get their signals across. And if it rains, then the signal deteriorate further since water bounces off the signals like a ping pong ball.
Compare this RM80 for Celcom prepaid, RM100 for Hotlink and RM150 for Digi Prepaid with fair usage caps of about 1G,200Mb, 100Mb daily limits respectively. P1 Wimax, AMAX, WiNET and iZZy 4G are more expensive than these players.
I seriously giving up on these wireless and so I will have to stay near to my McDonalds for my downloads and proper connection. Hmmn.
