Talk is cheap

Wednesday 27 February 2008 @ 3:38 am

Well, words says much more right but in this new era, I was always fascinated by Voice Recognition Software because I am a lazy bum. About in 1996, I came across this feature that was only compatible with IBM with less than perfect Artificial Intelligence AI because I had to speak very clearly and slowly mainly they have a little bit on the dictionary in itself.

Now, the speech recognition software is so far better that even huge companies utilize these speech recognition system in initial customer service interaction. Thought for those who are disabled or less than sensible, companies like BT and E-Trade used them to ask you to input your account number or social security number.

Which is good on paper but with idiots like me who can’t correctly pronounce all the ‘R’ or some others, it’s a really painful way to do things as the human is the best way forward for that kind of people. Imagine me speaking 6543 1234 and the system thought I was saying 6853 1434!

But it’s a good way forward anyway, as once the fuzzy logic started to learn on your larynx, it will work to perfection so that you can dictate your thesis of 500,000 words and it will type it for you like what I did with my last projects. That’s why I am so interested into it.

Well, I did like to take short cuts..and this was written by a human…not by MS WORD! My gang who had to write their TESL dissertation will sure be angry with me especially when they had to explain phonetics and the sort.

Wondered why you don’t get any income?

Tuesday 26 February 2008 @ 5:59 pm

Alot of you will be fretting to why you don’t get even enough earnings from the web? Some even get less than $5 a month from advertising on their blogs that these don’t even cover the basic cost of Internet Hosting of $5.77 and the cost of a domain. Ever wonder why LiewCF and Jason Ooi made thousands a month when you can’t even hit that dollar? Don’t think of those cheap tricks, but it comes back to basics.

1) YOUR OWN DOMAIN NAME.

Without it , you are basically sharing or not even getting any credit for your work and ideas. Each Domain has it’s own value, to it’s own keywords and it BELONGS TO YOU. Some are as low as $2 a year if they are on sale, and some are given free, if you sign up for some freebies or take up a hosting package.

2) Divide and Conquer.

Each domain can be sub divided to a sub domain to your own liking.A sub domain may talk about like My Kitchen Disasters (or do it directly as MYKITCHENDISASTERS.AZRIN.INFO)

So each sub-domain has it’s own agenda to talk about. Don’t garble it all on one single site as it’s devaluing your site. Page Rank relevancy is as such.

3) Flow it, Smoothly does it.

Content. Content. Content. It’s what drives your site to the masses. Information, up to date is best. As much as possible, as frequent as you can get it to be, not just chunking it all at one go. If you have some to lash out, throttle or schedule the dissemination by a few hours so the aggreators , RSS FEEDS managed to be delivered out, otherwise you may be spamming people.

Remember, bots are made by human, they don’t like to visit too often, usually once a day or 5 hours at max, so make it worth their while.

4) Costing and Pricing

If you use ad pricing system like Adbrite or Aductions, remember to set your pricing to be competitive. No Advertiser want to advertise without knowing that they will get value for their money, in terms of sales or clicks.

Competitively, set it to these limits:
10c per click
25c-$1 a day based on impressions (the norm is about $1 per 1000 visitors)
70c per 100 directed views (targeted dermographics etc)

Put it too high you won’t get any advertiser traffic coming to your site(s), set it too low, they will think you are not worth it.

5) Check your stats.

Remember, a Hit does not mean a Visit. Use reliable stats like Google Analytics URCHIN.JS system and of your own to see if they visit long enough, they click something else, or who they are, if you use Yahoo’s MBL system. Always if possible visit their own pages so you build a rapport.

6) ANSWERABLE TO YOUR ACTIONS

Remember, every reply or comment , how nasty it is…is a positive feedback to yourself, in terms of content or even your style. Listen and if possible , reply.

Visitors like to see you reply to your actions.

7) Aesthetic Values.

Having too much ads is an eyesore. Too little means it bare..and it’s a balance of both to the eyes and to the pocket. Some pay nothing. Nuffnang Singapore pays only when you have ads running, so it is best to minimise or don’t show at all, as that will just slow down the loads.

Text Link Ads stay at the side or you can mod it to show horizontally if you write your own PHP MOD.

Right now, colorful and attractive 3 column themes are best, so you can place a leaderboard, skyscraper and a large square/ rectangle inside them

8) Knowledge is Wealth

But so is sharing it. Sharing knowledge gets you better off, people mention about you and you get the traffic needed. Sharing it with places like Helium gets you paid. the more you share… the more you get. You get publicity and also some royalty. As much as $90 has been paid for an article which has demand. You never know when yours is mentioned in Wall Street Journal.

9) Community

Well, things happen when there is a crowd but bad crowds are something you should steer away from or being in a clan or something. If you love cars, it’s ok to talk about cars and be in car modding forum sharing your thoughts, but not becoming an illegal drag racer on the street, becoming a nuisance or cause harm to others.

10) Compliance.

By complying with the regulations, like censorship or so, you are acknowledged better and you have less of an issue with firewalls or Cyber Nanny. Listing in DMOZ and other directories helps alot too by building you back links and once you are on one, the rest will follow suit.

That’s my 2c , so enjoy the flow of traffic. It works, at least it pays the bills.

Fancy Page Rank 5?

Monday 11 February 2008 @ 3:35 am

I was having some fun today when a fellow kaki working up at Pageranks in Google Development team back in the US and actually told me that I am eligible to get back my Page Rank Value of 5. I was honestly gob smacked but the requirements are not that easy to comply anyway for me.

1) Content.I must add in the next month or so about 500 + RELATED post! Gosh! It’s bad enough to churn up content but 500? That works to about a post for every hour or so, and they gave extra points for IMAGES!

Yikes! Where on earth will I find content related to SEO and Technology every hour unless I …..do a RSS SPAM. Nah…. I will try.. but it’s not hard because I can churn them out, especially talking about Linux Based, with PHP, ASP and Scripting

2) Related Links. I must be relating the links too. Getting people to link me about my post gives a good boost. Thanks to a list of friends, they do link me often even though it’s not that enough, but every little helps.

3) Traffic. I should be getting a driven profile of over 1000 unique US visitors every day! That is really hard unless I talk business. And making more money and of course, the traffic drive for Malaysia, Video Lucah Melayu 3GPP. That will surely boost me to over 35,000 daily in Malaysia alone. I might want to, but looking at pageranks, I may loose my page classification.

4) Link Community. Having linked in Blogrolls will greatly help, but internal reviews about me will do just as well.

5) Well, of course, my own domain. Without SEO tricks in use. So,there goes BLOGGER!

Will you do this for PR 5?

Load of choices

Thursday 24 January 2008 @ 5:26 pm

Well, these days, I seem to be lost, in the choices that is made available to me and the other bloggers in the sense of what we have on the palette to advertise with. Off record, I had to pain painstaking time to sieve through the whole list of advertisers who wish to be on my network. How does 379 slots and advertisers to vouch through and another 700 to prioritize and place the appropriate keywords on their products, and giving them the weighting. Which means alot of work and alot of money.

One of the advertisers which is paying top value for money for ANY TRAFFIC is a FOREIGN EXCHANGE MARKET BASED. Also commonly heard as FOREX with CFD and PIPs etc as the jargon word, they are actually paying as low as US1 per visitor. You may see some inline ads here anyway about these FOREX, Markets and so, and tell you, they are really desperate for money. There are so many network based advertisers bidding for Forex Keywords like Dollars, Cents, Yen, Pounds Sterling, Kuwait Dinars, Malaysia Ringgit , all to get the visitor’s attraction.

In comparison, other networks like NUFFNANG has started to move to the groove. Darn right that 25sen is barely 8cents per click compared to me offering 1Penny Per View (see Kedai.TV) which is about 2cents per paid view. It’s not much but getting 15% from your referrals is alot of moolah you can sit on. I got on one advertising run by Nuffnang with RM7.80 for ONE DAY!! That is because I had you to thank for visiting me. It’s nothing compared to a sale accomplished. Commission rate we are talking about ? How does £30 sounds which is about RM200 for just a single visitor!

YES, TWO HUNDRED RINGGIT FOR ONE VISITOR and for the member, there is an incentive of 10% (or about RM20) for that sign up. It’s also commonly called incentive driven promotion which normally works with great sales and traffic. What it means for the blogger is that they get a combination of PER CLICK BASIS and a PER EVENT COMMISSION with a long term cookie to get that sale to your pocket. Be it 10 visitors a day or a million, ratios don’t bother in this one. It’s the amount converted and the personal touch that is needed.

So, what you think, You want 50C per click or 10cents + a percentage of the sale?

I am asking for your opinion.

6 Nations Ragby in Caerdydd,Cymru

Saturday 12 January 2008 @ 12:03 am

Welsh Badge
Welsh love their Balls. I really Big HUGE GAELIC BALL. It’s call the Ragby aka Rugby ball or commonly called the rugger in the deeper sides of Wales ( I like to say it by their Official Name, CYMRU ) like Tenby or Llanelli *(spoken as Glan Delli, locals say it as Klan Nack Lee). But then Wales love to beat their neighbours with their pants down and hit them hard on the playing field. I don’t remember how many times, but only so far England only trashed the Welsh twice (if I can recall) in the RBS 6 Nations Rugby Tournament.
England Badge
England on the other hand played badly for the past few runs, and had been under performing in the recent events which were always plagued by some sort of scandal ….. < more ....>

But them aside, I had my odds and bets taken down for the rugby dream team actually, which punters predict this year, it would favour the Gaelic Brothers of either the Irish, Scottish or Welsh. My bet says it’s the Italian who will take the cup as they performed better than ever and it’s never going to be England as the boys are now filled with Winning Ego of Hot Air..delivering nothing.

I will be watching them straight from here though. And I will miss the atmosphere.

Tracking,Linking ..and Missing

Friday 21 December 2007 @ 6:28 pm

Nuffnang admittedly said that they can’t track 5% of the visits and clicks. Which is by far, a huge cry for those who needs every click or visit counted. Surprisingly, analytics can’t account for ads and clicks if they are fraudulent.

How can that happen? Well, some people love to SABOTAGE the blogger if they are popular enough or hated enough like me. However, Bots are something we have to dismiss against our server logs if you get my drift, but sometimes, it’s more to the ability of the viewer or reader to view the content itself.

Likewise, Nuffnang utilises Javascripts. I did point this error before to Timothy that the NUFFNANG_BID is not declared properly and mostly, users utilising Internet Explorer version 6 and above will show an Error and don’t load the ads at all due to the lack of P3P privacy policy missing within the domain. Another aspect is ICRA Rating, which rates the site as General or PG or R rated. To add salt to the wound, the drift from IE and Windows towards Linux and iMac is a serious issue. Linux don’t have Shockwave built in as the RPM and .DEB composite repository differs from each flavor whereas FLASH maybe easily plugged in using the Firefox (ICEWEASEL to some) addons. And since alot of the ads are in Shockwave, your user cannot see the ad and all they see is a broken link.

So, a tracker will show that if you are sabotaged by a MetaBot or a Crawler or even Google’s Spiders. A simple Tracker.js can show that or even a hidden pixel embedded inside the header will do a trick.Otherwise, a good AWSTATS will show that too.

So, how to make sure you get your 20c worth of click? Knowingly, a Global CPM Ad band works on a basis of how many clicks per thousand impressions. The higher the ratio, the better it works for your wallet. Remember that blogger who had RM93 for a week of ad? He has about 50 clicks per 1000 visitors. How to deliver that? Well, one way is to BEG for your Clicks. Another is to hot mention your advertiser should they paste a static one on your site. Ads like National Treasure 2 or Motorola Q2 cell phone or even the prominent Orang Oren (HAPPY.COM.MY) which is actually Digi doing it’s dirty tricks…. is one thing to entice your advertiser and reader to explore.

That way, it actually compensates your visitor and advertiser alike. Words like please visit or click my ad so I can get credit or 20c is not the way to go. That will get you kicked off any advertising network, be it Nuffnang,Advertlets or PayPerPost (oops). Blogsvertise,Blogitive and Smorty will love them though but definitely Google Adsense and Adbrite will terminate you without any payment at all in the first instance when you utilise PPC (Per Per Click) or PPV services;heck even mentioning it will get you the sack.Ask my sis, who lost $72 on Adsense because she paid 70c for 500 visitors..which surged and killed her Adsense and me, whom had a surge , overloaded my servers and got myself a kick in the behind because of the hardware failures.

So, in good faith, this will teach you to earn that big fat $1000 packets of gold from the advertising industry, and not to mention the fact of affiliate programs, which I will cover later on. As for me, this mention is to see if there is another bug on the Nuffnang system which has not been tracking my SEO Engineering 101 pageviews properly. So,every NANG will be a visit. Thanks for visiting, and for your time, I am giving you a FREE HOSTING for 2 mths, on me,and should you want more,I’ll let you in on the secret.

Best Regards

Merry Christmas and have a joyous New Year!

Twenty Points for your Thought

Monday 17 December 2007 @ 6:23 am

Did you know that Nuffnang is the highest paying advertiser in South East Asia, well, Asia for that reason. Compared to Nuffnang Singapore, the Malaysia Head Office actually has a variety line up of advertisers for your little great blogspace. How much? Well, TWENTY CENTS doesn’t mean much to you much to the Singapore Blogger.

Remember the options in BLOG MANAGER ?? Make sure it shows SHOW GLOBAL CPC ADS. Unfortunately, there are only TWO OPTIONS in the SINGAPORE version, which says SHOW DEFAULT ADS, which is a bummer. So if you want extra money Singaporean, place a NUFFNANG MALAYSIA AD into the adspace.

How to do so? Well, you can place a SINGAPORE address in your NUFFNANG Application, but it is up to you to decipher how to bank that cheque in. Opening a Bank Account is quite simple actually, commonly known as an EXTERNAL ACCOUNT. Common Options will be the RHB Bank Branch in Giant Plentong Hypermart in JB.

Of course, traffic counts. A typical CTR of more than 1% is best, but with a higher ratio of pageviews are also part of the criterion of getting placements. A typical BAND 2 CPM ad by NNSG is $2.88 compared to RM3.58 on the same placement. Of course, you will need at least 50 visitors a day, so how can that make a huge difference?

Placements, Content and return visits.

One least utility used by Bloggers are the MyBlogLog service widget by Yahoo! Install that ALONGSIDE with your NUFFNANG SKYSCRAPER, setting the pixel width to 150px for Blogger.
That will show WHO HAD VISITED your blog, and in turn, come to their profile and convey your thanks, and do the same. If the person has Adbrite Network Full Page Ads, he will be compensated about 0.3SEN / 0.2Cent. That will network yourself to their community, and in turn get better visits.

Placement wise, how and what is the effective method?

MY LEADERBOARD for TOP PLACEMENT
MY SQUARE at the TOP CORNER
MY SQUARE in between the post (or end of post ::refer to Theme codes::).

(try the style:”clear:both;float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;” alongside the SQUARE)
I just wish they just use a non-javascript IMG SRC so it can be embedded in Wordpress easier.

Add a SG Sidebar and a MY SIDEBAR on your sidebar
Add the MyBloglog Widget under it. So you know who and where they came from.

(MY is denoted for Malaysia, SG for Singapore)

And so, within a month or so, you can drive great content, and yr friends drive you great cash, because each click is TWENTY MALAYSIAN SEN. It’s better than Advertlets or Auctionads. Even this surpass TEXT LINK ADS placements and forget Adsense, they pay less than .01cent! Takes ages to get a check from them.

So this is more than twenty points, but if you want more money for your blog, make sure you have a constant flow of traffic. INNIT is a good source to broadcast your topic. I just wish Tim have standard IAB Banners *(468*80) so we can embed more stuff in. This don’t get us demoted from Pagerank analytics. That includes REALRANK and SMARTRANK by Yahoo! OOps, did I mention that new ranking system?

That will be for another day.

Google Algorithms

Thursday 29 November 2007 @ 10:17 pm

Before you bash me on anything…take a few steps back and a long deep breath, while try to make some sense into these codes I am gonna blab about.

Google Page Rank
Pagerank = % of Adsense + Traffic Dermographics
Traffic + Links + Keyword of Meta content = Pagerank Passed
Value of Keyword = % of Density of Content / Total Value of Content (viscosity)

OK. This is the HUMAN Answer to the Smart Alec way of how the new algorithms are being derived. I analysed over 400 networks of websites and the blogs , with their pagerank value being tracked across the web with their cached files looked up thru major search engines.

One funny note: Google is also utilising not just THEIR SEARCH ENGINE but also mimicking third party Engines and Spiders IGNORING standardized robots exclusions. They have been found to mimic almost 30 variants of engine spiders to pre-determine the value and passing threshold of their so for called Page Rank.

Utilising the initial use of entries from the Google’s Blogger System, the spider link each blog with the relevancy of the keyword and it’s entry. It analyzed the link list of each post versus the static link disregarding the blog link roll and widgets as ’spam karma’ to it’s list. Highlighting the number of words repeated and keywords installed, their engine pre-determine the aspect ratio.

For Example: A blog has 50 page entries. It has 270 links individually linking it’s internal pages with over 100 outgoing. It has also 10 persons as it’s Blogroll. The Blogroll are given Brownie Points. It’s Widget Links loaded are given Demerit points. The Bot overall keyword for the site is checked against the MOST NUMBER of KEYWORDS MENTIONED, and it picks out the Most Common Number of Keywords mentioned in each post.

In this example is that THE blog talks about the theme of Motorbikes with Motor, bike, and the brands as standardised keywords. It will then compare each page post with the top 5 or 10 keywords bid using the Adsense algorithm and come up with a list, and from that list will see if the keywords have anything in common, known as the common numerator or value of the common keywords. That will predetermine the blogs VALUE of ADSENSE ADS and it’s Page Rank. The Higher the Total Value of Keyword Points, the Higher it gets on the Pagerank as it’s value for the Ranking of THAT CERTAIN PARTICULAR KEYWORD.

Then it is cross checked against the number of incoming links for the ANCHORS. Namely, it’s Site-Name, Author, Topic, Keywords with the Keywords in the Top 5 or 10 linked given a huge value.

Say I got 270 links, talking about SEO Hacks as the incoming Anchor and out of that, only 15 are the linking about my keyword of SEO, Hacks, Keywords etc (based from the Meta) and out of that 15, 9 are on the Top 10 list. So, it would give me a HUGE RANK for SEO and BUSINESS being the PR passed is 0.02 compared to a 0.0006 point per link.

Removing the number of people in the Round Robin Widgets (aka Tautons etc) is a good thing as you will loose the same number of point per spam karma link.

In regards to Adsense, they will see the dermographics and density view of YOUR PAGES against the number of pages available every day and the amount of content viewed. In other words, it’s PENETRATION.

The more fluid your content relevancy, the higher your rank, and the less you get smacked. In other words, don’t go off topic. Buying Links is a big NO! Ask for barter , with a discretion of HOW TO TALK ABOUT IT is better off. Let the responder have a choice. That gives you more brownie points.

I was analyzing the lot of domains from the top to the bottom, and my algorithms noticed this. And getting AUTOSURF is not good as the bot knows the HTTP_REFERRER unless you can tweak this. Using TinyURL is another issue.

Anyway, this is a preliminary review. If you have any thoughts..let me know and NAGG IT!

A kind note to those who are affected by Google.

Thursday 22 November 2007 @ 7:28 am

(remember to leave a comment on my NuffNang!)

In view of the recent articles and activities by Google, it seems that ONLY PAYPERPOST blogs are affected in the recent killings.

How they detect your site is PAYPERPOST blogger?

Sinfully, they asked you to install the widget that tracks you down, on the dermographics and the fraud. And so, that is what killing you. You have to remove the HIRE ME icon and all other icons related to paid blogging. I had my site thankfully removed last june, and by grace of God, it hurt me… financially. It’s really simple. They K-Lined all the blogs, but not the networks it’s in. They also removed the cache pages of the advertisers. Which is why I am being PageRank NOT PASSED.

So, to remove the widgets are easy. But to NO FOLLOW THEM…is something else. You have to find the posts manually, or by a little trick. It’s a little bit tricky…but it works.

So, I’ve put a link to how to do it… (full details later on) on my Geek Page on how to mod yr Links

Good luck.
