Wordpress update issues

Wordpress 2.7.1 update is up and now it’s causing many headaches to those on Shared Hosting packages due to the security issues imposed by many web hosts in their clusters.

Due to a few factors, many of the servers located on the East Coast (New York, Boston MA, New Jersey ) are timing out to those located in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia and Thailand. This is NOT because of a link fault but due to some inconsistent issues by GCWW and AT&T fiberclouds.

Our Proxy Servers link are also not available to MAXIS networks due to technical upgrades on their firewalls.

Also, our Mafia Wars Facebook hacks and cheats site are still about..and if you can’t access them, please use a text based browser like the one from Mippin or WHOIS Domain Tools to read the updates.

In the mean time, I will look into alternatives to access the system and resolve this persisting problem.Thanks,

Music to most

Wordpress 2.7 is finally here, code named COLTRANE and is a stable release from 2.6.x and with many months of hard work, finally, many have contributed to the success of 2.7 where you don’t need upgrades…. it will do for you.

Of course, many of you who are lazy will try to skip it for once and I share the sentiments.Some plugins won’t work and this was raised in WP 2.7 RC2 and for those on Multi User (MU), please note that this upgrade will not affect MU. Some domain mapping issues are not available to shared hosted plans, mainly due to the DNS unable to pre-process the tags.

Coltrane is a jazz musician and they dedicated the wordpress builds on musicians as they create life to the human form, in this case to the world of web. Without blogs, it’s tedious to update fresh content daily other than using CMS. For that, it’s a unanimous consensus among the community of developeres (WP-TESTERS) alike.

If you use CPANEL or Fantastico, please note that they have not updated the server databases yet and so forget about upgrading till it’s resolved, otherwise you will have your .install script crapping out on you.As normal, a wordpress database upgrade and reboot is required.

The new interface is more streamlined and you can install your plugins either from a download or upload a zip file totally without the FTP need. It’s just the begining….but I let you explore on your own.

For those who host their own servers and resell services using AWBS, please note that there is a MAJOR UPGRADE to the versions, and current stack is now at 2.8.0 and if you have 2.7.5, please run a maintenance and upgrade your files. Make sure you keep your license files intact.
