A loss for Malaysia - the End of Jaring

JARING or the Joint Advanced Research Integrated Networking was the pioneer for Internet in Malaysia. It is akin to Temasek TELEVIEW operated by TAS back in 1989 or so and I am quite sad that this entity is going down.

Having said that , I am willing to take up the company without any debts (or do a repayment and analytics of the 'debt' as these are so much subjective to dodgy dealings etc) because JARING is a huge entity that we can eat up.

Look at the AS Number looking glass. At least 10 subnets of /16 which is alot and a whole /15!
That in layman terms , IP Addresses of at least a million or so.

Bottom line is.... how much are they worth?
A LOT OF MOOLA!!!

I want to have Jaring. And I know what rubbish I can do with it!

My take on the Malaysian GST?

Some people are really ridiculous. There is no such thing as verification and the like for GST vendors and the like especially for street vendors. Where the certificates??

Honestly ya, every other country that uses GST issues certificates to be displayed on premises. Malaysia don't.

GST prices are inclusive of GST unless they are selling to businesses. This act of even makcik nasi lemak at plus highways charges GST baffles me. So u r telling me her turnover is RM1500 a day at least?? So if u charge me RM1.06 then you cannot round up n charge me extra 4sen as its illegal tax and underpayment is also an offence. Make it clear lah you stupid fools.

So GST Again...

Some one asked...if my business is not turning over RM500,000..... I don't need to register... but then you can claim back your input tax on everything you buy if you are GST Registered.

Simple softwares like Microsoft Quicken or Quickbooks or MYOB can help you automate.
Just make sure your paperwork are in order.

And even since my business is primarily in Singapore but I do buy things from Malaysia, I am able to escape from Singapore GST and local taxes for spending less than $150 *(RM400) if less than 48hrs or $600 per person if over 48hrs. That is based on PER PERSON PER TRIP...so heeee.. I can be sneaky and buy my stuff with 4 kids in tow..means I can bring in up to RM2400 duty free... saving $60 in Singapore GST and RM144 clawed back from Malaysia GST and my full tank of petrol worth of RON97...

Sneaky rite?? But many done it back in UK / EU already mate... and that is the BEAUTY of things here in Malaysia. You can write yourself everything is EXPORTED into Singapore by means of a Bill of Sale addressed to an address in Singapore and presto.. no output tax . ZERO RATED.

Registered for Malaysia GST

So I got buggered by the Malaysian Customs since I operate as a Corporation in Malaysia and Business in Singapore and as such I have to TAX every one of you RESIDING IN MALAYSIA at standard 6% rate on EVERY SERVICE PROVIDED. However, if you can prove to me you are NOT RESIDENT (non-citizen) or addressed outside Malaysia, in Langkawi or Labuan or Singapore Protected Regions (Of Pedra Blanca, Brunei, FTZ), then tax is not chargable.

So legally, my Malaysia GST # MY-000-694-898-688 registered to company # 809970H.
In Singapore, my registration number is tagged to UEN 53231076D

Anything else???

Understanding HUDUD and Syariah Laws

In the recent times, Malaysia have been plagued with outrage over the passing of Islamic Syariah Laws of HUDUD Punishment in the state of Kelantan with EVERY LAW MAKER in the state agreeing to the cause, with Opposition UMNO Members (of the Barisan Nasional or National Front) fully supporting the bill.

The thing is, that the bill started off over 20 years ago when the late Haji Nik Aziz Nik Mat proposed this as part of the PAS Manifesto and with full support of the Palace, put PAS or Islamic Party of Malaysia into power for over 20 odd years.

Now, even Melaka (Malacca) are mulling the move as how Brunei pushed for full Islamic Laws recently, despite having good support of fellow ally, Singapore.

However, the Alternative Front or Pakatan Rakyat namely the DAP did not like the bill saying its barbaric and inhumane. However, lets put the perceptive of HUDUD and Syariah Laws into the legal place.

In Singapore, there is only ONE LEGAL SYSTEM, Civil Courts Prevail and an act called Administration of Muslim Legislation Act or AMLA (not to be confused with Anti-Money Laundering Act) and Syariah Courts have the absolute power of laws pertaining to Muslims but let's put it in the LEGAL ASPECT.

The descriptive above are from Malaysia Kini and compare against the current civil laws.
Theft... is punishable by jail sentence or even whipping if harm is put to play, such as weapons or other factors and in Malaysia we look at 6 years jail for petty theft of shoplifting and in Singapore, a 6-12 months jail.

However, if factors in play includes desperation, act of nature where supplies are hard to get etc, then the person is not at fault.

In the UK, AGBH (abbreviated gross bodily harm) where yobs and hooliganism are caused by the drinks. Here in Singapore, if you are drunk and caused problems, it's jail time for you. Drunk Driving is a huge problem. So DRY OUT.

False witnesses are also threaten with whipping same of False Police Report or Declaration.

In other words, it's not just human law we are playing, it's ALLAH'S LAW that we are following and if the person repent before capture and surrenders... he or she can be faulted for a smaller deed and in cases of Murder or Causing Death, a cash retribution should be in play where it makes no sense to kill another for his action to kill another. 2 Evil Deaths does not equate to one Good Death~

My 2c worth though. And Fags are causing so much harm.....

Saving on technology or just pure money??

The industry is moving and the money needs cutting and the power bill is too high. Sounds familiar rite? Especially when you are in the datacenter business and the bulk of datacenters are spent on cooling and powering those huge racks of 1U pizza boxes, each costing you about 1600W of power which works to about 45c per hour....and a rack will cost you about $30 in power + air conditioning cost per hour.
Small figure? Add that to the monthly cost which is about $21,000 in power costs alone PER RACK!
That excludes your cooling costs! But on one sense...SERVERS DON'T NEED HUGE PROCESSING POWER. It's that SQL that rakes up loads of heat....and the critical point is the hard drives.
Imagine if you have 400 servers which is about 10 racks of servers in just one rack and using far lesser than the power of one rack? Possible? Yep. I have tested it... however the catch is..you need NAND Drives to push the data crunching to the limit.
A Mix and Match of these savings can be hybrid together with as much as 75% of your costs and that can be heavily invested in the emerging frontier technology of NAND Storage Systems.
If you want more info...drop me a note.

Going into a risky business

Someone asked me why on earth I am gambling my future with Scotland and the Frontier Technology? And when they said Frontier Technology means CryptoCurrency / CryptoGrass (a pun from my local Singaporean friends as they were forgotten by the bosses and not get paid on time again!) also known as BitCoin or Alt-Coin / Currency.

The thing is.. SCOTLAND IS A CHEAP PLACE TO LIVE! And I saw one I loved for the cost of my HDB Flat! And it's remote and with good internet. Just the place I need. Gigabit Connections and no one to bugger me with problems.

Honestly... the world is so hyped on the drug called American Dollars that they forget that the American Currency is just another piece of bond paper like any other stock as it has no value behind it. Unlike Singapore dollars where they back $10 with ONE GRAM OF GOLD and that is only for the PRINTED NOTES and not the Digital Cyber Currencies stored in your CEPAS card such as EzLink , NETSFlashpay or even in your bank account. Hence forth , it is not worth the bits and bobs in terms of Gold and Silver. Where in Islamic terms, ONE DINAR or DIRHAM is denominated by 4.5Grams of pure Gold or Silver such as the rule with the DUCAT et al.

Think of Alternative Crypto Currency as another form of barter credit. I will accept goods worth say at today's rate of SGD600 (was $740 few days back!) per ONE BITCOIN. And one bitcoin is divided into nano units or 1 of a Billionth Unit == 1.00 00 00 00 and looks more like a MAC ADDRESS.

So if the demand of the currency unit goes up...so does the value as there is a limit to how many is in use.

Now there are many other currencies in the cyberworld similar to you using Facebook and Facebook Credits is used to buy game tokens. We have Darkcoin, Doge, SCOTCOIN and many others. The limit is stated when the developer created the crypto currency.

So we can exchange 0.01 of the Bitcoin or BTC to say 10000 Scotcoins instead to the merchant's liking. Just like the old Pre-EU days where we carry Liras,Francs,Deutsche marks, Florins, Swiss Francs, Gilders etc etc etc.

There is no GOVERNMENT TO THESE CURRENCIES. Viking Coin for example has only a max of 5000 coins to be circulated. So it should give a better market cap if there is a huge demand to the exchange rate maybe in a year's time of 10BTC=1VIK.

So I am now dabbling in these and I am going to PHASE 3 of my PLAN!

What?? Give me $5,000,000 and I will let you in on these...

Have Fun!

They can rest and come home #MH17

Just as I am composing this... there are reports of ALGIERS flight #AH5017 just crashed off the borders of Niger en-route to Algeria where they suspect bad weather caused the crash. There were about 119 souls on board.

To those on board MH17, you can now come and rest... for you can now come home.

Post by Air Times.

Our deep felt condolences to all.
